Review of Bassdash Denim Waders: Breathable, Awesome, but...

by FISHING BASSDASH 06 Nov 2024

Thanks to the Review from Bassdash customer: RideOrDieGuy

I wanted to hold off on reviewing these until I could put them to use and see how they performed first. I have to say, after testing the denim waders stocking foot out in the water and pressure washing in the sun and southern heat, THESE ARE AWESOME! I HONESTLY LIKE THEM A LOT! I do not want to take anything away from these, at all. These are super high quality in both material and manufacturing and there was some attention to detail paid on these when putting them together.

I like the “denim” look of them and I love how they come with a belt and belt loops for the midsections and the shoulder straps are really nice material that ooze “top shelf” in feel, stretch, adjustment and comfort. The zipper pockets are REALLY nice to have to keep things not only dry but super accessible. I really like the inside chest “flipper pocket” that flips out and leaves the zipper at the top for normal access to the pocket. It even works well when wearing them folded down over the belt with the shoulder straps hanging.

The booties fit really well and are comfortable to get in and out of and the bottom of the leg cuff has a rubber texturized ring around the inside to keep them in place and from floating up and catching trapped air. Super nice all the way around. The best part is that these are not like wearing a plastic sauna suit and I can tolerate being in it for extended periods of time, even out of the water and being in the southern heat and scorching hot sun. These ACTUALLY BREATH!

Now with all that gushing over them out of the way, here is the one downside of them. The fit. The legs are “slim” and feel constricting compared to the upper portion. In addition to that I ordered an XL 10-11 and I can only wear this with gym shorts and a t-shirt under it. I cannot get these on with pant one because the legs are so “slim cut” What I really need is a XXL 10–11, which is a size that does not exist but if it did it would be a best seller because there are a ton of guys out there that are 10-11 shoe size and would like to wear something other than boxers or gym shorts under these or guys that would like a little more room in the legs and not feel so “confined” in the legs AND The Crotch. That whole “area” is tight.

Don’t get me wrong, I have been looking for a breathable bib like this for the longest time, both for fishing/boating and for pressure washing (I am a contractor and business owner). I swear on the moon and stars that if an XXL 10-11 was to exist that I would order it immediately as this is the nicest bib I have worn, that feels durable enough to keep up with me and doesn’t make me overheat the entire time I am wearing it.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this one and I really do not like that phrase but these are Really, REALLY NICE and well made with good materials and I fear not about using them and staying dry. In fact I think the only thing that would take these out of commission would be something sharp, like frayed metal, a knife or a tool of some sort poking through with some force. They do include a matching repair kit if a rip or tear were to happen and that is appreciated.

I just wish they were a little more roomy from the waist down and that I could fit more than shorts and a shirt under them and still be able to move around freely. If you are more in shape than me then fit shouldn’t be an issue unless you never miss leg day, then you’ll be in the same boat as me. Overall, due to quality materials and high quality manufacturing and the fact that I am not being cooked while wearing them I am giving them a favorable rating. I can actually use them and they delivered on all the promises of function. A+++ BREATHABLE waders!
